In 1995, Red Stars Theory released a 10" on Berkeley's Deluxe record label and a 7" single on Seattle's RxRemedy, which have long been out of print. This CD compiles those two releases. Since these early recordings, the band has grown to include Seth Warren (full-time violin player) and released an LP on RxRemedy and a second full length and EP on Chicago's mighty Touch and Go Records. The band has progressively moved toward the psychedelic side of the room on recent efforts, but the melodic and noisy songs found on these early tracks gives a perfect picture of the backbone the band is built upon. These six songs, recorded by Calvin Johnson at Dub Narcotic, do a good job documenting the sound of the Northwest in the mid 90s. James Bertram (who's done time with 764-Hero, Lync, Built to Spill, Beck) fronts the band as they carve themselves a well worshipped niche in the dream-core cum emo movement with some angles, some math, milky melodies, drifting vocals and a subconscious groove capacity (courtesy of Jeremiah Green of Modest Mouse).
